Carolina Herrera Launched Its First Abaya Collection - Read Our Assessment Of The Collection

Carolina Herrera recently launched its first ever Abaya collection for the Middle East. We are not sure why it was only launched in the Middle East because Hijabi modesty rules are pretty much the same in any region of the world and based on our assessment of the collection, the abayas in the collection would work for any hijabi in any part of the world.

Carolina Herrera is the eponymous fashion brand of Venezuelan-American fashion designer of the same name and she is known for her exceptional personal style. She began her career working as a publicist for Emilio Pucci and she debuted her first collection at Manhattan's Metropolitan club to critical acclaim in 1981.

We love the cut and design of the pieces in the collection, baring a few critiques here and there. The critiques are basically around modesty though and not really about design - the critiques are as follows:

• The Abaya pictured above would be perfect for hijabis if the sleeves are full length instead of the 3/4 sleeves it is designed as, and the slit by the side is a little bit too much.

• The only critique regarding the skirt outfit below is in relation to its presentation - the area of the chest that is exposed in the shot should have been covered. An Hijabi would definitely not leave that part of her skin exposed.

• There is a Pyjamas inspired lace outfit that is part of the collection but it is not included as one of our picks from the collection here, despite the fact that we love the design because the outfit is transparent and that is a definite 'No, No' for us Hijabis.
