Reem Ahmed, a 26 year old biomedical engineer from Egypt currently residing in Canada is the first hijabi to contest on Masterchef Canada. She joins other Muslim trail blazers like Nadiya Hussain in the UK, an hijabi who won the Great British Bake Off in 2015 and Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed who won the Masterchef UK award in 2017.

According to CTV's website, Reem Ahmed's audition dish for the Masterchef Canada competition was:  eggplant Stuffed with Basmati Rice, Baba Ghanoush, and Charcoal Beef. Her food dream is: to open an Egyptian restaurant called The Pyramid.

Reem Ahmed announced her participation in Masterchef Canada with the following message on her Instagram account:

Judging from the droolworthy images of her food creations on her instagram account, Reem Ahmed obviously puts in a lot of practice and effort to perfect her cooking craft. We wish Reem Ahmed and all the contestants much success.
